About the role#
As a Microbiology Intern at The J.M. Smucker Co., you will join our laboratory team for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, paid position based in Orrville, Ohio. You will gain hands-on experience through daily lab operations and an independent project that concludes with a final presentation.
What you'll do#
- Perform routine microbiological testing on finished goods and environmental samples.
- Enter and manage microbiological data within company databases.
- Support laboratory projects and assist with ISO certification processes.
- Maintain general laboratory cleanliness and organization.
- Manage an individual project and present your findings at the end of the term.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior in college.
- Educational background in Biology, Microbiology, Food Science, or a related field.
- Practical experience with aseptic techniques and general laboratory procedures.
- A strong foundation in mathematics and chemistry.
- Ability to work on-site at our corporate offices.

- Work Modality: 100% on-site.
- Compensation: $21.50 to $25.00 per hour, based on academic year.
- Note: A housing stipend is available for interns who relocate for this program.
