About the role#
This position is open exclusively to current or former HNTB interns. As a Planner I, you will apply planning strategies to support infrastructure projects, gather and analyze data, and develop visual materials to communicate findings. You will coordinate with inter-disciplinary teams throughout the project lifecycle, from concept development to completion.
What you'll do#
- Research and collect raw data, organizing and analyzing information for project use.
- Perform project analysis using technical guidance and specialized software.
- Assist team members in developing maps, exhibits, presentation materials, and reports.
- Conduct research on planning issues, policies, and concepts.
- Support the preparation of plans, studies, and environmental documents for transportation and infrastructure projects.
- Assist with stakeholder and public participation processes.
- Maintain project-specific records, collections, and files.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in GIS software and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience compiling and summarizing data, such as census or land use data.
- Ability to review and summarize research for experienced staff.
- Capability to contribute to reports and assist in the preparation of presentation materials.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid position available for the Winter 2027 and Summer 2027 terms.
- Work is performed on-site at one of the following locations: Austin, TX; Baton Rouge, LA; Dallas, TX; Des Moines, IA; El Paso, TX; Fort Worth, TX; Houston, TX; Kansas City, MO; Little Rock, AR; New Orleans, LA; Oklahoma City, OK; Overland Park, KS; Plano, TX; Round Rock, TX; San Antonio, TX; or St. Louis, MO.
