About the role#
This position is exclusively for current or former HNTB interns. As a Returning New Grad Engineer I, you will contribute to the delivery of complex infrastructure projects by assisting with design calculations, technical reports, and engineering plans. You will work in partnership with project teams to apply engineering techniques and criteria across projects of varying size and complexity.
What you'll do#
- Complete assigned work within the provided schedule and hours.
- Support the preparation and modification of project reports, plans, designs, and calculations.
- Assist in the preparation of project quantity and cost estimates.
- Provide organizational and administrative support for project design files.
- Conduct research, data collection, and field investigations to support project development.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Environmental, or Architecture).
- A solid understanding of engineering principles relevant to your discipline.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.
- Note: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

- This is a full-time, paid, on-site role.
- Terms available: Winter 2027 or Summer 2027.
- Locations include: Philadelphia, Harrisburg, Pittsburgh, and King of Prussia, PA; Charlotte and Raleigh, NC; Baltimore, MD; Fairmont and Scott Depot, WV; Virginia Beach, Glen Allen, and Arlington, VA; North Charleston, SC; and Washington, DC.
