About the role#
This position is open exclusively to current or former HNTB interns. As a New Grad Field Engineer I, you will provide engineering inspection and documentation for construction projects. Your work ensures that contractors follow project plans, specifications, and relevant state or local regulations. You will assist in maintaining compliance for design calculations, technical reports, and contract documents while protecting the interests of the client.
What you'll do#
- Perform construction field work tasks to ensure projects meet contract requirements.
- Coordinate and schedule quality control inspections.
- Observe on-site material testing and monitor testing services.
- Calculate material quantities for payments.
- Review contractor daily reports for accuracy and consistency.
- Document project progress using photos and video.
- Assist with office engineering tasks, such as preparing meeting minutes and maintaining tracking logs for submittals and pay estimates.
- Identify discrepancies or conflicts within construction drawings and specifications.
- Use technology like GPS or Rovers to improve the efficiency of inspection tasks.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- Ability to write daily inspection reports and track work performed.
- Familiarity with shop drawing reviews and construction schedules.
- Ability to identify conflicts within project documents.
- Preference for candidates with an Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or experience with digital construction management software.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid position.
- The role is on-site and requires work authorization in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available.
- Opportunities are available for Winter 2027 and Summer 2027.
- Locations include Atlanta, GA; Nashville, TN; and multiple sites across Florida including Lake Mary, Orlando, Tampa, Jacksonville, Green Cove Springs, Chipley, Fort Lauderdale, Tallahassee, Kissimmee, Bartow, Ormond Beach, Ocoee, and Miami.
