About the role#
Heidelberg Materials is looking for a Mining Engineer Intern to join our team in Somerset, Kentucky. This role provides hands-on experience with aggregate mining operations and allows you to work alongside experienced professionals. You will support quarry operations, mine planning, and efficiency initiatives in an active production environment.
What you'll do#
- Assist with quarry planning, mine design, and production analysis.
- Support projects focused on safety, efficiency, and productivity.
- Collect and interpret data related to equipment and operational performance.
- Participate in field inspections to identify process improvements.
- Collaborate with quarry personnel on environmental, regulatory, and safety compliance.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Interest in mining, aggregates, or heavy industrial operations.
- Ability to analyze data and make sound recommendations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- A firm commitment to workplace safety.
Location & details#
- Location: Somerset, Kentucky.
- Modality: On-site at an active quarry operation.
- Schedule: Full-time, rolling term.
- Compensation: $23 to $27 per hour.
- Additional: Furnished housing is provided. You will work in both office and field environments, requiring exposure to outdoor weather and industrial equipment. Personal protective equipment is provided.
