About the role#
The Geology Intern role at Heidelberg Materials offers hands-on experience in the construction materials industry. This is a full-time, paid position based on-site in Irving, Texas. Interns receive mentorship and training while contributing to active mining operations and geological projects.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with the CCA team and operations to develop drilling programs, including planning, cost estimation, supervision, and reporting.
- Manage drill campaigns and associated data through various stages of project development.
- Assist with reserve and resource calculations, pit shell evaluations, and volume estimations for mining operations.
- Create technical maps, drawings, and documentation using ArcGIS and other tools for mine planning and reporting.
- Participate in geological fieldwork, data collection, and geological assessments.
- Support health and safety initiatives across field and office activities.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a 3rd year, 4th year, or masters level student in Geology or Engineering Geology.
- Relevant majors include Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics.
- Strong observation, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience in mining and with AutoCAD or mining software is an asset.
- Experience around drill rigs or core logging is an asset.
- A valid driver’s license and personal transportation are required.
