About the role#
Heidelberg Materials is looking for an Environmental Intern to join our team in Jamesville, New York. You will work with the Environmental Manager to support our construction materials operations. This role provides hands-on experience in regulatory compliance, sustainability initiatives, and environmental stewardship across multiple locations. You will work alongside environmental and operational professionals to support our ongoing improvement efforts.
What you'll do#
- Assist with environmental compliance activities, inspections, audits, and documentation.
- Support environmental data collection, analysis, reporting, and recordkeeping for permits and sustainability initiatives.
- Partner with operations teams to identify environmental improvements and best practices.
- Participate in site visits and field assessments to monitor environmental performance and support corrective actions.
- Contribute to projects focused on resource conservation, reclamation, emissions reduction, and operational efficiency.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, Natural Resources, Geology, or a related field. You must have completed at least your sophomore year.
- Interest in environmental compliance and industrial operations.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work with teams at all levels.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn data management systems.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship located in Jamesville, NY.
- The role is on-site and requires a combination of office work and outdoor field visits to quarries, plants, and production facilities.
- You will work in varying weather conditions and must follow all safety policies, including the use of required personal protective equipment.
