About the role#
Heidelberg Materials is hiring an Environmental Intern to work with our Aggregates and Hot Mix Asphalt operations. Reporting to the Environmental Manager, you will gain hands-on experience in regulatory compliance, sustainability, and environmental stewardship. This role involves a mix of office work and field visits to quarries and production facilities.
What you'll do#
- Assist with environmental compliance activities, including inspections, audits, and documentation.
- Collect and analyze environmental data for permits and sustainability reports.
- Work with operations teams to find ways to improve environmental performance.
- Visit sites to monitor performance and support corrective actions.
- Contribute to projects focused on resource conservation, emissions reduction, and operational efficiency.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, Natural Resources, Geology, or related degree program, having completed at least your sophomore year.
- An interest in environmental compliance and industrial operations.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills for working with teams at all levels.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and a willingness to learn new data management systems.
- Ability to follow all safety policies and wear required personal protective equipment.
