About the role#
The Adult Educational Development department at Harper College is seeking a Student Aide to provide administrative and front-desk support. This part-time role assists with daily operations and helps connect students with High School Equivalency (HSE) and English Language Acquisition (ELA) programs. This position is available for the Summer 2026 term.
What you'll do#
- Greet visitors and provide customer service at the front desk.
- Answer phone calls and assist callers with inquiries.
- Provide information regarding HSE and ELA programs.
- Perform data entry, sort and distribute mail, and file student records.
- Assist faculty and staff with general administrative tasks.
- Organize and stock office supplies.
- Help with the planning and organization of AED events.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment at Harper College with a minimum of three credits for the summer semester.
- Basic keyboarding skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
- Ability to multitask in an office environment.
- Prior office or customer service experience is preferred.
- Bilingual skills in Spanish are considered an advantage.
Location & details#
- Location: Palatine, Illinois.
- Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. The role requires a minimum of 5 hours and a maximum of 20 hours per week, based on student availability.
- Compensation: This is a paid position.
- Note: Employment sponsorship is not available.
