About the role#
This is a part-time Peer Tutor Work Study position for the Fall 2026 term. You will work 8 to 10 hours per week at the Marshalltown Community College Student Success Center. This role supports student learning through consistent academic guidance.
What you'll do#
- Lead one-on-one and small-group tutoring sessions to help students grasp specific concepts or skills.
- Assist students visiting the Student Success Center even if they are not part of your assigned group.
- Refer students who require disability-related support to the Learning Services Specialist.
- Direct students interested in receiving tutoring to the Student Success Center to complete an application.
- Provide feedback to staff regarding potential improvements for the Peer Tutor Program.
- Manage administrative tasks including maintaining accurate tutor logs for each session and submitting timesheets by the pay period deadline.
- Check your student email at least every other day for program updates.
- Notify the SSC Office Associate promptly regarding any schedule changes, cancellations, or absences.
What you'll need#
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Successful completion of the course you intend to tutor with a grade of B or higher.
- Good academic standing with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher. An overall GPA of 2.5 or higher is preferred.
- Enrollment as a student, with a preference for those majoring in Psychology.
