About the role#
This position is for Federal Work Study eligible students at Baylor University. You will serve as a math tutor for middle school and 9th-grade students through Communities in Schools of the Heart of Texas. You will help students with their math homework and GED preparation while representing the University in the local community.
What you'll do#
- Assist students with math homework and GED coursework.
- Coordinate with the tutoring manager on scheduling and the implementation of services.
- Maintain accurate documentation and complete detailed service logs for every student.
- Build positive relationships with students and CIS staff.
- Attend required meetings and professional training sessions.
- Follow all CIS and district policies while maintaining student confidentiality.
- Assist with community projects, outreach, and workshops as needed.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment at Baylor University.
- Federal Work Study eligibility.
- Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.
- Proficiency with computers.
- Ability to work in diverse environments.
- Reliable transportation to and from the work site.
- A professional appearance.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check.
- Spanish language skills are a plus.

- Location: Waco, Texas.
- Work site: Communities in Schools of the Heart of Texas.
- Schedule: Flexible hours between 8 AM and 4 PM, Monday through Friday.
- Employment term: Rolling, covering the Fall and Spring semesters.
