About the role#
As a TRiO SSS Tutor at Columbia College, you will provide academic support to program participants. This role involves scheduling and conducting tutoring sessions on campus to help students master course materials. You will work under the guidance of the Tutor Coordinator and contribute to the overall development of the TRiO Student Support Services program.
What you'll do#
- Arrange and hold tutoring sessions with assigned students on campus.
- Communicate course material clearly and effectively.
- Maintain regular contact with the Tutor Coordinator regarding student progress and feedback.
- Follow the guidelines outlined in the Tutor Training Manual.
- Practice professional customer service and treat all constituencies with respect.
- Perform duties in alignment with the mission and values of Columbia College.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Positive academic performance in the subject area you wish to tutor.
- Strong command of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking.
- Proficiency in critical thinking, judgment, decision making, and active listening.
- Ability to manage your time effectively and coordinate sessions independently or as part of a team.
- Experience with computer software, database systems, and web-based technologies.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
