About the role#
Academic peer tutors assist fellow students with study strategies and course concepts. You will help your peers become independent learners, persist in their college studies, and reach their academic goals. This role involves both individual and group tutoring sessions to clarify course materials and solve specific problems. You will also provide mentorship and support from a biblical worldview perspective.
What you'll do#
- Attend all scheduled tutoring appointments.
- Provide subject-specific expertise to peers.
- Recognize different learning styles and student preferences.
- Create a professional and welcoming environment.
- Use active listening, questioning, and feedback strategies to diagnose student needs.
- Help students become confident, successful, and self-directed learners.
- Provide assistance with equipment, learning objects, and materials.
- Make referrals to campus and community resources when necessary.
- Communicate regularly with the ACE Coordinator.
- Track sessions in a digital logbook and input hours into Paycom.
- Conduct yourself with integrity and professionalism.
What you'll need#
- A personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a commitment to the ACU Statement of Faith and core values.
- Current enrollment as a student at ACU.
- A cumulative and semester GPA of 3.5 or above.
- An A grade in the specific course you intend to tutor.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Availability to work 5-10 hours per week between 9 am and 9 pm, Monday through Friday.
- Completion of a FAFSA.

- Location: Glendale, Arizona.
- Work modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Shifts are arranged around your class times.
- Compensation: This is a paid, part-time position.
