    About the role#

    Peer Tutors provide academic support to students through individual and small-group sessions. You will help peers strengthen their understanding of course material, develop effective study strategies, and build confidence as learners. This role supports student success and retention across the university.

    What you'll do#

    • Lead tutoring sessions for specific subject areas including accounting, math, biology, business, chemistry, computer science, marketing, physics, statistics, and writing.
    • Help students grasp course concepts and assignments without completing their work for them.
    • Teach effective study habits, time management, and academic strategies.
    • Keep accurate records of attendance, topics covered, and session notes.
    • Communicate regularly with the Academic Support Services Coordinator about student progress or concerns.
    • Refer students to campus resources like advising or counseling when needed.
    • Maintain confidentiality regarding student records and performance.
    • Attend training sessions and staff meetings.
    • Uphold university academic integrity policies.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment at the university with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
    • A grade of B or better in the subjects you want to tutor.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • A patient, approachable manner and the ability to explain concepts to peers at different skill levels.
    • Reliability and punctuality with a consistent weekly schedule.
    • A faculty recommendation may be required.
    • Previous experience in tutoring or peer mentoring is preferred but not required.

    • This position is located on-site in Greenville, Illinois.
    • The role is paid and part-time.
    • Hiring is conducted on a rolling basis.
