About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in medical office operations within a mental health setting. It is designed for individuals looking to start a career in healthcare or those without prior medical experience. You will receive mentorship and training to build professional skills. Upon completing 600 hours, you will receive a certificate of completion and a reference letter to support your future career or education goals. This is a voluntary, unpaid position.
What you'll do#
Under supervision, you will learn to manage daily clinic operations. Your responsibilities include:
- Practicing professional phone etiquette and scheduling appointments.
- Managing patient flow and the waiting area.
- Handling patient check-in and check-out procedures.
- Learning the basics of psychiatric services and medical terminology.
- Assisting with front desk duties like faxing, filing, and copying.
- Gaining an introduction to insurance billing and coding.
- Maintaining HIPAA compliance and patient privacy.
What you'll need#
- You must be at least 18 years old and a high school graduate.
- A commitment to a consistent schedule is required.
- You must be motivated to gain healthcare experience.
- All candidates must pass a background check and drug screening.
- No prior healthcare or office experience is necessary.

- Location: Bradenton, Florida.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Flexible, with a minimum of 20 hours per week.
- Term: Rolling enrollment.
- Program Duration: 3 to 6 months (600 hours total).
