About the role#
Harmony United Psychiatric Care offers a hands-on internship program for individuals interested in mental health and medical office operations. This program provides foundational training in a clinical environment, helping you build skills for a future healthcare career. You will work under supervision to learn about patient care, administrative workflows, and clinic management. Upon completing the required 600 hours, you will receive a certificate of completion and a reference letter to support your professional development.
What you'll do#
- Manage front desk operations, including faxing, copying, and filing.
- Handle patient check-in and check-out procedures while maintaining waiting area flow.
- Perform professional phone communication and schedule patient appointments.
- Use the MEDENT system to execute electronic health record tasks.
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and ensure patient privacy at all times.
- Participate in orientation, shadowing, and supervised hands-on practice.
What you'll need#
- You must be at least 18 years old and a high school graduate.
- Ability to commit to a consistent schedule, with a minimum of 20 hours per week.
- Willingness to complete a minimum of 600 hours to finish the program.
- Ability to pass a basic screening, including a background check and drug testing.
- Interest in fields such as Psychology, Public Health, Health Administration, Biomedical Sciences, or Nursing.

- This position is located in Port Charlotte, Florida.
- The work is on-site at our outpatient clinic.
- This is a voluntary, unpaid internship.
- The program duration is 3 to 6 months.
