About the role#
As a Plant Engineer Intern, you will assist with plant oversight for engineering and cost activities. You will help ensure the efficient progress of operations while maintaining compliance with regulatory agencies. This role supports plant managers, foremen, and superintendents in their daily operations.
What you'll do#
- Calculate production quantities and update management on costs.
- Create, implement, and test hazardous materials plans and SWPPP documents.
- Study operational processes and recommend improvements.
- Participate in safety meetings and conduct audits to maintain a safe work environment.
- Manage spare parts inventories and prioritize maintenance for material processing equipment.
- Complete semi-annual inventory reconciliations.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
- 0-2 years of experience in construction materials processing.
- Knowledge of plant operations, mechanical requirements, and the materials business.
- Understanding of federal, state, and local laws and policies.
- Ability to communicate effectively with management and represent the company to outside agencies.
- Public speaking skills.
- Familiarity with Hot Mix Asphalt plants is preferred.
