About the role#
The Safety Intern will assist in the administration of the accident prevention program and related safety laws for an assigned location. This position is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027 based in Indio, California. You will work on-site and must be available to travel frequently.
What you'll do#
- Promote compliance with the company safety program and local accident prevention efforts.
- Assist in the development and implementation of safety programs.
- Perform and document jobsite inspections and audits, focusing on hazard recognition and correction.
- Help prepare and lead safety meetings and training programs.
- Participate in regulatory agency inspections and investigations.
- Assist in the development and review of job hazard analysis for major work phases.
- Support the investigation and maintenance of records for third party, asset loss, and worker’s compensation claims.
- Coordinate with the corporate insurance department regarding claim follow-ups.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program, specifically in Safety or Occupational Health.
- Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to teach, mentor, and lead others.
- Capacity to work in a high production environment and meet deadlines under pressure.
- Bilingual skills in English and Spanish are preferred.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as climbing stairs and ladders, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
