About the role#
This Summer 2027 internship offers foundational experience in human resources within the hospitality industry. You will provide clerical and administrative support to help the department run daily operations. The role involves working within established procedures to assist with onboarding, coordinate new hire logistics, and manage essential HR tasks.
What you'll do#
- Greet applicants, answer the telephone, and handle office mail.
- Support the HR Administrative Assistant with new employee profiles and orientation scheduling.
- Process employment applications and answer routine inquiries regarding benefits, job openings, and verifications.
- Maintain employee files, create records, and sort documents.
- Input personnel data into the HR system and assist with report preparation.
- Work with department heads to track training plans and performance reviews.
- Collect and process forms for employee room requests and reciprocal hotel programs.
- Complete assigned internship projects and assist staff with daily office operations.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment at a college, university, or community college with the requirement to receive academic credit for this internship.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Publisher.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently and communicate clearly in both written and verbal formats.
- Experience in customer service or a relevant field.
- Ability to interpret procedure manuals, safety rules, and operating instructions.
- Capability to handle high call volumes, meet deadlines, and manage tasks with poise.
- Knowledge of HR data systems is preferred.
- Ability to pass a background investigation and drug screen.
Location & details#
- Location: Acme, Michigan.
- Modality: On-site.
- Commitment: Full-time (30 to 40+ hours per week) with a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Compensation: Paid internship.
- Note: Native American preference applies.
