About the role#
Goodwyn Mills Cawood is hiring a Landscape Architecture Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Birmingham, Alabama. You will work alongside senior staff, architects, engineers, and other design team members on a variety of public and private projects.
What you'll do#
- Assist with design work and the creation of design graphics.
- Collaborate with the project team and clients on various design tasks.
- Prepare hand-drawn or digital visual representations of outdoor spaces.
- Present and edit design images, including plans, sections, perspectives, and 3D models, based on feedback.
- Help produce construction-level drawings, such as hardscape plans, planting schedules, and construction details.
- Inspect project sites and write reports under the guidance of project leaders.
What you'll need#
- A positive attitude and a strong desire to learn.
- Ability to think critically and solve problems across different tasks.
- Demonstrated passion for design.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Sketch-up, and Photoshop.
- Ability to accept constructive feedback and apply it to your work.
- You may be asked to provide a portfolio or work samples.
- Experience with Lumion, InDesign, Illustrator, Land-FX, or Rhino is a plus.
