About the role#
Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) is hiring an Engineering Intern for our Tampa office. This is a paid, full-time, on-site internship. You will work on a variety of projects while receiving mentorship from our team to support your professional development.
What you'll do#
- Prepare reports, site plans, permit documents, and construction schedules.
- Apply technical skills to routine projects with minimal supervision.
- Direct technicians for the production of engineering documents.
- Execute cross-discipline checks and coordinate project requirements.
- Review project documents for quality assurance and conformity.
- Report risk management issues to the Project Engineer.
- Assist with reviewing scope of work issues with consultants and contractors.
- Prepare technical memorandums under the supervision of the Engineer-of-Record.
- Present information effectively in both oral and written formats.
- Contribute to client service teams and assist in learning client needs.
- Participate in individual development programs and local professional societies.
- Engage in community service activities.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD software.
- Experience with Civil3D is preferred.
- Previous A/E or EPC experience is a plus.
- Foundations of Engineering Certificate (EIT) is a plus.
Location & details#
- Location: Tampa, Florida.
- This position requires 80% office work and 20% field work.
- Field work may involve exposure to various weather conditions, temperatures, and environmental elements.
- Protective clothing and gear are required when performing field assignments.
