About the role#
This internship at Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) offers students the chance to gain practical experience in the Auburn office. You will work on a variety of projects while receiving support from managers and colleagues to help your professional development. This is a paid, full-time position with a rolling start date.
What you'll do#
- Prepare reports, site plans, permit documents, and construction schedules.
- Apply your technical skills to routine projects with minimal supervision.
- Direct technicians in the production of engineering documents.
- Execute cross-discipline checks and coordinate project tasks.
- Review project documents for quality assurance and conformity.
- Identify and report risk management issues to the Project Engineer.
- Assist with reviewing scope of work issues alongside consultants and contractors.
- Respond to common inquiries from clients and regulatory agencies.
- Represent the firm in project assignments and community activities.
- Participate in individual development planning and local professional societies.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD software.
- Experience with Civil3D is preferred.
- Previous A/E or EPC experience is a plus.
- A Foundations of Engineering Certificate (EIT) is a plus.
Location & details#
- Location: Auburn, Alabama.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Travel: This role is 80% office-based and 20% field-based. Fieldwork may involve exposure to various weather conditions and environmental factors. Appropriate protective gear is required for field assignments.
