About the role#
Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) is hiring a Transportation Intern for our Brentwood, Tennessee office. This role supports ongoing transportation projects and involves a mix of office work and field assignments. You will work across disciplines and office locations to support project delivery.
What you'll do#
- Prepare reports, site plans, permit documents, construction schedules, and studies.
- Apply technical skills to routine projects under supervision.
- Direct technicians in the production of engineering documents.
- Perform cross-discipline checks and coordinate with consultants and contractors.
- Review project documents for quality assurance and conformity.
- Recognize and report risk management issues to the Project Engineer.
- Respond to inquiries from clients and regulatory agencies.
- Present information in both oral and written formats.
- Participate in individual development programs, local professional societies, and community service activities.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD software.
- Experience with Civil3D is preferred.
- Previous A/E or EPC experience is a plus.
- Foundations of Engineering Certificate (EIT) is a plus.
Location & details#
- This position is based in Brentwood, TN.
- The role requires 80% office work and 20% fieldwork.
- Fieldwork may involve exposure to various weather conditions, temperatures, and environmental elements. You must wear appropriate protective gear when working in the field.
