About the role#
GMC is hiring an Engineering Intern to support projects in our Brentwood and Nashville offices. This is a paid, full-time, on-site internship. You will work on a variety of assignments while managers and colleagues support your professional development.
What you'll do#
- Prepare reports, site plans, permit documents, and construction schedules.
- Apply technical skills to routine projects and direct technicians in the production of engineering documents.
- Execute cross-discipline checks and coordinate project documentation.
- Review documents for quality assurance and conformity.
- Identify and report risk management issues to the Project Engineer.
- Assist with defining scope of work issues and learning client needs.
- Prepare technical memorandums and respond to inquiries from clients or regulatory agencies.
- Participate in individual development planning, client services team activities, local professional societies, and community service.
- Work across different disciplines and office locations.
- Spend approximately 80 percent of your time in the office and 20 percent in the field. Fieldwork may involve exposure to various weather conditions, pollutants, or chemicals, requiring the use of protective gear.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor or Master degree program for Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering at an ABET accredited university.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD software.
- Experience with Civil3D is preferred.
- A/E or EPC experience and a Foundations of Engineering Certificate (EIT) are considered a plus.
