About the role#
General Dynamics Electric Boat is hiring an Electrical Engineering intern for the Summer 2027 season. This role supports the Real Estate and Facilities Directorate, which manages infrastructure, renovations, and new construction projects across the Groton shipyard. You will work alongside staff to support the maintenance and development of shipyard systems, including electrical distribution.
What you'll do#
- Support project management and surveillance tasks.
- Perform calculations for fluid systems, structures, and components.
- Review and update technical drawings and procedures.
- Research relevant codes to support construction and inspection activities.
- Assist with preliminary project development.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor or Masters program for Electrical Engineering.
- Completion of your Freshman year before the internship starts.
- US citizenship and the ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Location & details#
- Location: Groton, Connecticut.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week for at least eight consecutive weeks between May and September 2027.
- Modality: This is an on-site position.
- Logistics: You are responsible for your own housing and transportation.
