About the role#
The Life Cycle Support (LCS) Directorate provides support to the U.S. Navy to increase submarine operational availability and capability. Interns work alongside senior staff to support the existing fleet and new construction projects. You will gain exposure to sustainment, environmental safety, supply support, and configuration management.
What you'll do#
- Perform technical analyses of submarine ship systems, components, materials, drawings, and specifications.
- Conduct technical reviews of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) products for equipment upgrades and alterations.
- Coordinate and issue responses to emergent fleet issues through Liaison Action Requests (LAR) across all submarine classes.
- Develop design modernization drawings and calculations for the installation of new or upgraded equipment.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as a full-time student pursuing a Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Civil (Structural), Ocean, Marine, Electrical, Nuclear, Systems, Facilities, Energy Systems, or Chemical Engineering.
- Completion of at least your freshman year before the internship begins.
- U.S. citizenship and the ability to pass a medically supervised drug screen and background check.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week for at least eight consecutive weeks between May 2027 and September 2027.
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- Capability to arrange your own housing and transportation.

- This is a paid, full-time, on-site internship.
- Positions are located in Groton, North Stonington, and New London, Connecticut.
