About the role#
This summer internship provides practical exposure to the defense industry while working alongside engineers on nuclear submarine projects. Interns work with senior staff to support the design, engineering, and delivery of mechanical equipment. This is a full-time, on-site role for the Summer 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Perform strength analyses using Mathcad and FEA.
- Evaluate non-conformances from suppliers and the shipyard.
- Develop system requirements for mechanical equipment.
- Provide oversight for the development, manufacture, and testing of supplier equipment.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as a full-time student pursuing a Bachelor or Masters of Science degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Marine Engineering.
- Completion of at least your Freshman year before the internship starts.
- US citizenship and the ability to obtain a Secret level clearance through the Department of Defense.
- Ability to pass a medically supervised drug screen and background check.
- Availability to work 40 hours per week for at least eight consecutive weeks between May 2027 and September 2027.
- You must be 18 years of age or older.
- Responsibility for your own housing and transportation during the assignment.
