    About the role#

    General Dynamics Electric Boat is seeking a D501 Reliability Engineer Summer Intern to support facilities and maintenance operations. You will work alongside experienced engineers, project managers, and trade personnel to improve equipment reliability and maintenance processes. This is a full-time, on-site role for the Summer 2027 term.

    What you'll do#

    • Improve preventative maintenance procedures and standardize metrics across departments.
    • Implement reliability predictive maintenance practices and monitoring systems.
    • Perform root cause failure analysis on critical facilities equipment.
    • Identify and procure critical spare parts to support maintenance operations.
    • Collaborate with Facilities engineering and equipment operators to adjust maintenance frequencies and adequacy.
    • Assist with the integration of predictive maintenance technologies.

    What you'll need#

    • Enrollment as a full-time student in a Bachelor or Master of Science program for Construction Management, Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
    • Completion of your Freshman year prior to the start of the internship.
    • Ability to work 40 hours per week for at least eight consecutive weeks during the summer of 2027.
    • U.S. citizenship is required.
    • Must be at least 18 years old.
    • Ability to pass a medically supervised drug screen and a background check.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Experience with Excel, Microsoft Project, CMMS systems, and predictive maintenance software is preferred.

    Location & details#

    • This position is based on-site in Groton, CT, or New London, CT.
    • Interns are responsible for their own housing and transportation.
    • This is a paid internship.
