About the role#
Generac is looking for an Electrical Engineering Intern for Summer 2027. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Waukesha or Pewaukee, Wisconsin. You will work alongside engineers to fulfill design requests and contribute to product development across areas like electrical systems, controls, embedded systems, and power electronics.
What you'll do#
- Create 2D cross sections, 3D models, and tolerance stack-ups for parts and assemblies.
- Develop Pro-E models, drawings, and templates.
- Manage and update bills of materials (BOMs).
- Design, test, and integrate standard components while evaluating effectiveness, cost, reliability, and safety.
- Execute fitness-for-use testing and process validation plans.
- Use CAD and CAE systems to model new designs.
- Collaborate with manufacturing partners, contract manufacturers, and product specialists.
- Provide technical support for assigned projects and interface with internal personnel.
- Travel to other company facilities as required.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
- Completion of your sophomore year.
- Understanding of basic electrical concepts.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and electronic schematics.
- Experience with programming languages that communicate with electronic hardware.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work full-time (40 hours per week) during the summer.
