    About the role#

    This internship offers students the chance to work within electrical engineering departments on commercial and utility-scale power projects. You will gain professional experience by contributing to technical design, evaluation, and construction tasks. The program runs for 10 to 12 weeks during the summer of 2027.

    What you'll do#

    • Develop power system models for renewable energy projects, including power flow and electromagnetic transient models.
    • Perform power flow analysis for generation and transmission development.
    • Review interconnection study reports and summarize technical findings for the team.
    • Assist engineers with inverter and plant controller design topics.
    • Analyze regulatory requirements and industry standards like IEEE and NERC.
    • Build algorithms to automatically triangulate engineering data across databases.
    • Develop automation tools and improve workflows using Python.
    • Support senior staff with training materials and equipment rating report reviews.
    • Organize substation maintenance schedules and interpret data for program metrics.
    • Compose position papers on operational, AI, and NERC regulatory matters.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in a 4-year Bachelor’s degree program in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Power Systems Engineering.
    • Expected graduation date between Fall 2027 and Summer 2028.
    • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
    • Demonstrated interest in the energy sector.
    • Eligibility to work in the United States without employer visa sponsorship.
