About the role#
Join our roadway team in Kansas City for a summer internship. You will work on client projects alongside experienced engineers and professionals who provide mentorship and supervision. This is a full-time, paid position running from mid-May through mid-August.
What you'll do#
- Create engineering and construction drawings using MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, or AutoCAD.
- Conduct basic engineering calculations and input data into analysis software.
- Participate in field assignments, including inspections of roadways and highways.
- Review project drawings and proofread reports.
- Perform general engineering support tasks to assist project teams.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ABET-accredited undergraduate or graduate program in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Demonstrated interest or prior internship experience in Roadway and Highway Engineering.
- Basic proficiency in CAD, spreadsheets, interpreting design drawings, and technical writing.
- Working proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, MicroStation, or OpenRoads Designer).
- Experience using engineering analysis and design software such as Civil 3D or HEC-RAS.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and a self-motivated approach to teamwork.

- Compensation: $21.00 to $28.00 per hour, depending on experience and location.
