About the role#
This is a summer internship for a student interested in roadway and highway engineering. You will join our team in Schaumburg, Illinois, to gain experience in design, inspection, and construction projects. You will work alongside experienced professionals who provide guidance and mentorship throughout the program.
What you'll do#
- Create engineering and construction drawings using MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, or AutoCAD.
- Conduct basic engineering calculations and input data into analysis software.
- Participate in field assignments, including inspections of roadways and highways.
- Review project drawings and proofread technical reports.
- Perform general engineering support tasks as needed.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ABET-accredited undergraduate or graduate program in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Demonstrated interest or prior experience in roadway and highway engineering.
- Basic proficiency in CAD, spreadsheets, technical writing, and interpreting design drawings.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and a self-motivated approach to teamwork.
- Experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, or OpenRoads Designer is preferred.
- Familiarity with engineering analysis and design software like Civil 3D or HEC-RAS is a plus.
