About the role#
This clinical placement provides an opportunity to work within a dialysis health care team. You will support the mission and service philosophy of the organization while gaining hands-on experience in medical nutrition therapy. You will work under the direct supervision of a registered dietitian to provide care in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
What you'll do#
- Conduct nutrition interviews with patients.
- Calculate diet prescription recommendations.
- Assist in the development and implementation of nutrition plans of care.
- Provide nutrition counseling to patients and their caregivers.
- Collect data for comprehensive interdisciplinary assessments.
- Practice writing monthly nutrition progress notes and review data with patients.
- Create nutrition-related projects for patients or staff, such as educational handouts or lobby activities.
- Attend interdisciplinary team meetings and quality assessment sessions.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nutrition or Dietetics, or current enrollment in an accredited Coordinated Program in Dietetics.
- Strong customer service skills.
- A desire to deliver high-quality care to patients.
