About the role#
This clinical placement offers students the opportunity to work within a dialysis health care team. You will support the medical nutrition therapy provided to patients while working under the direct supervision of a registered dietitian. This role requires adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements.
What you'll do#
- Conduct nutrition interviews with patients.
- Calculate diet prescription recommendations.
- Provide nutrition counseling to patients and their caregivers.
- Assist the registered dietitian in developing and implementing nutrition plans of care.
- Practice writing monthly nutrition progress notes.
- Collect data for comprehensive interdisciplinary assessments.
- Create nutrition projects for patients or staff, such as education handouts or lobby activities.
- Attend interdisciplinary team meetings.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor or Master degree in Nutrition or Dietetics.
- Current enrollment in an accredited Coordinated Program in Dietetics.
- Enrollment in a Dietetic Internship accredited by ACEND.
- A desire to deliver care to patients.
