About the role#
The PHP Immunization & Community Health Intern supports the population health team by managing immunization reporting, community outreach, and family education. This role helps the Public Health Division fulfill state reporting requirements while assisting with data management and program sustainability.
What you'll do#
- Coordinate low-barrier mobile immunization clinics alongside community partners.
- Manage and update vaccination tracking tools, including monitoring temperature logs.
- Perform data entry and registry alignment for the Oregon ALERT IIS system.
- Develop and refine educational materials to explain immunization mandates and school exclusion regulations.
- Conduct literature reviews on vaccine hesitancy to help propose policy and systems changes.
- Support long-term program planning by refining project documentation and updating workflows.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited institution pursuing a post-graduate degree or equivalent.
- At least one year of experience demonstrating the ability to perform the duties of this position.
- Proficiency in data entry, record management, and software such as Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
- Ability to translate technical public health information into clear, accessible communication for the public.
- Interest in working with diverse or high-need communities.
Location & details#
- Pay: $24 per hour.
- Location: Gateway Children's Center Service Building in Portland, Oregon, with additional work at clinic and outreach sites.
- Modality: Hybrid, with one mandatory in-person day and flexibility for additional on-site work based on operational needs.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, with evening and weekend availability required based on community and business needs.
