About the role#
The PHP Tobacco Control and Prevention Intern will gain hands-on public health experience by supporting tobacco prevention and cessation activities. This role involves community outreach, retailer compliance support, policy research, and data analysis within the Multnomah County Health Department.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate on tobacco prevention and cessation activities, including community outreach and retailer compliance support.
- Develop and implement communication materials and training sessions.
- Conduct policy research on tobacco-related issues, such as vape disposal.
- Analyze data related to retailer inspections and sales metrics.
- Design and implement campaign effectiveness surveys.
What you'll need#
- Completion of an undergraduate degree in Public Health, Social Work, Community Health, Communications, or related fields.
- Current enrollment in an accredited institution leading to a post-graduate degree or equivalent program.
- One year of experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
Location & details#
- Location: 847 NE 19th Ave, Portland, OR.
- Pay: $24 per hour.
- Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday, 9am-5pm.
- Work Modality: Hybrid, with one mandatory in-person day per week.
