About the role#
Reporting to the Chief of Staff, this internship offers a behind-the-scenes view of higher education administration, organizational strategy, and institutional operations. You will support daily office functions, research modern administrative tools, and draft operational documents. A primary focus of this role is supporting the President’s Office Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) framework, acting as a liaison to help campus leaders adapt and establish their own departmental workbooks.
What you'll do#
- Maintain and refine the President's Office SOP Checklist Workbook.
- Act as a project liaison to directors, associate deans, and department leads to introduce and adapt SOP templates.
- Develop a 360-degree understanding of institutional workflows across campus divisions.
- Assist with the planning, logistics, and coordination of presidential events, retreats, and gatherings.
- Draft briefing materials, process guides, meeting summaries, and institutional reports.
- Explore, test, and recommend emerging AI tools and digital workflow practices.
- Assist with student-facing events, town halls, commencement activities, and campus traditions.
- Serve as an approachable student ambassador at President's Office events.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a graduate degree program at the Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE).
- Expected enrollment in S997 alongside the internship.
- Interest in higher education administration, organizational development, leadership, or student affairs.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Curiosity about modern workplace tools, generative AI applications, and process optimization.
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse administrative stakeholders.
- Ability to maintain discretion with confidential information.

- Compensation: $22 per hour for up to 140 hours per semester.
