About the role#
We are looking for a motivated student to join the Delivery team at Serif Biomedicines. You will work on lipid nanoparticle (LNP) formulations designed for the delivery of nucleic acid therapeutics. This position is open to current Northeastern University students for a co-op term running from January 2027 through June 2027.
What you'll do#
- Prepare and formulate LNPs using established protocols and new methods.
- Run formulation experiments to assist with screening and optimization.
- Perform characterization and analytics, including stability testing, particle size, PDI, and encapsulation efficiency.
- Document all experimental procedures, observations, and results in laboratory records.
- Analyze data and share findings with project teams.
- Work with scientists across biology, analytics, and formulation functions.
- Manage daily laboratory operations, including equipment upkeep, reagent preparation, and inventory.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a co-op program pursuing a BS or MS in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Hands-on laboratory experience in drug delivery, nanoparticle formulation, or biophysical characterization.
- Strong laboratory skills and the ability to follow experimental protocols with attention to detail.
- Basic knowledge of nucleic acid biology, lipid chemistry, or colloidal systems.
- Familiarity with LNP analytical techniques such as DLS or encapsulation assays.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- A working knowledge of HPLC for small molecule analysis is a plus.
Location & details#
- Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts.
- Modality: On-site, 40 hours per week, 5 days in the office.
- Compensation: $25 to $35 per hour.
- This is a full-time, paid position.
