About the role#
Moderna is looking for a motivated co-op to join our team for a full-time, hands-on experience in cell biology, assay development, and drug delivery. You will support research and technology development by working on cell culture, microscopy, and plate-based screening. This role provides the opportunity to take ownership of a defined scientific project while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
What you'll do#
- Develop and execute plate-based cell assays and microscopy workflows to evaluate novel delivery technologies.
- Optimize cell-based assays for robustness, reproducibility, and scalability by evaluating key parameters.
- Establish experimental controls, quality criteria, and standardized workflows for consistent data interpretation.
- Design and conduct follow-up studies to characterize candidates in relevant cellular models.
- Apply molecular and cell biology approaches to investigate biological factors that influence delivery performance.
- Execute and troubleshoot protocols, adapt new methods, and use scientific literature to guide experimental design.
- Analyze, document, and communicate results to project teams.
- Collaborate with scientists across multiple disciplines to advance research objectives.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a BS, MS, or equivalent degree in cell biology, molecular biology, bioengineering, biomedical engineering, biochemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, or a related field.
- Hands-on laboratory experience with mammalian cell culture and a strong foundation in cell and molecular biology.
- Experience with cell-based assays and plate-based experimental workflows.
- Ability to document work clearly and maintain accurate laboratory records.
- Strong communication skills and enthusiasm for discussing scientific results.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- GPA of 3.5 or equivalent academic achievement.
- Experience with fluorescence microscopy or imaging techniques.
- Familiarity with quantitative data analysis and visualization using tools such as Excel or GraphPad Prism.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot experiments, think critically, and learn new techniques.

- Work Modality: Hybrid (70% in-office).
- Employment: Full-time.
- Compensation: Paid ($20.00 - $60.00 per hour).
