About the role#
The Applied Technologies team develops and deploys automation, robotics, and digital solutions to improve scientific and technical workflows. As a co-op, you will work alongside engineers and scientists to support the design, development, testing, and implementation of these solutions within CMC Development. This role offers hands-on experience with laboratory automation, robotics, software, and systems engineering while you contribute to a specific technical project.
What you'll do#
- Contribute to an automation, robotics, or systems engineering project under the guidance of an engineer or scientist.
- Support the development, configuration, and testing of laboratory automation systems, robotic platforms, instruments, or related software.
- Assist with experimental execution, system characterization, troubleshooting, and the collection of performance data.
- Analyze test or experimental data to support engineering decisions.
- Develop or modify scripts, workflows, automation methods, or software tools.
- Prepare test plans, technical documentation, diagrams, and project summaries.
- Participate in prototype development and evaluate improvements to system reliability, throughput, or scalability.
- Present project progress, technical findings, and recommendations to the Applied Technologies team.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or graduate degree in engineering, computer science, bioengineering, robotics, automation, life sciences, or a related technical discipline.
- Completion of relevant coursework or project experience in programming, robotics, mechatronics, laboratory automation, electrical/mechanical systems, systems engineering, data analysis, or biological sciences.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Must qualify as a U.S. person due to export control requirements.

- Location: Norwood, Massachusetts.
- Term: Winter/Spring 2027 (January 18, 2027 - June 25, 2027).
- Work Modality: Hybrid (70% in-office).
- This is a paid, full-time position.
