About the role#
We are looking for a builder. If you see a messy spreadsheet, a clunky workflow, or tedious manual tasks and think, "I could fix that," you will fit right in. You will join the Technical Operations team at Pioneering Medicines and use tools like Claude Code, Vercel, and Zapier to build real applications, dashboards, automation tools, and data pipelines that our team uses every day to develop medicines. This is not a role where you shadow someone and take notes. You will own projects end to end, launch tools that people rely on, and have the freedom to pick the approaches that make sense.
What you'll do#
You will work across TechOps functions including process and analytical development, program management, finance, and regulatory to build tools that make our teams faster and smarter. Your work will include:
- Build and iterate on React-based dashboards and internal web apps to track drug development portfolios, resource forecasting, and milestones.
- Create AI-powered workflows to automate document generation, data extraction, and reporting.
- Connect data across systems like Smartsheet, SharePoint, and Benchling into unified, usable tools.
- Prototype new approaches and pitch your own solutions to problems.
- Work directly with senior leaders across CMC functions to understand their pain points and turn them into working software.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a graduate or undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience building applications, ideally with projects you can show us like GitHub repositories or deployed apps.
- Familiarity with at least some of: React, JavaScript, Python, HTML, CSS, or SQL.
- Experience with or strong interest in AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Vercel, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or Replit Agent.
- Comfort working with ambiguity, as you will often receive a problem rather than a formal specification.
- Bonus points for building with an LLM API, using data visualization libraries, familiarity with life sciences or drug development, or contributing to open-source projects.
Location & details#
- This position is open exclusively to current Northeastern University Co-Op students.
- Term: Winter 2027 (January 2027 to June 2027).
- Location: On-site in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
- Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, 5 days in office.
- Compensation: $25 - $35 per hour.
