About the role#
This Development Engineering internship provides hands-on experience in the research and development of sustainable energy technologies. You will work under daily supervision to complete assigned tasks, resolve routine issues, and contribute to the fabrication and characterization of photovoltaic devices. At the end of the term, you will present a summary of your project outcomes and accomplishments to the leadership team.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the fabrication of research-scale photovoltaic devices, including support for non-standard and experimental processes.
- Contribute to the electrical and material characterization of thin films and photovoltaic devices.
- Aid in data collection and analysis.
- Apply foundational skills while developing advanced competencies with tools and equipment relevant to the role.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures and work instructions to ensure safety and quality.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in at least your junior year of an undergraduate program.
- Pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures and work instructions.
- Strong critical thinking, attention to detail, and effective communication skills.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment, including steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, and respirators (which require little or no facial hair).
- Hands-on experience with vacuum equipment is preferred but not required.

- Compensation: $27.50 to $31.25 per hour
- Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 37 pounds, stand or walk for the duration of a shift, and meet specific vision requirements.
