About the role#
This internship offers an opportunity to contribute to sustainable energy projects within the research and development department. Interns will work on-site to solve technical problems, gain hands-on experience, and collaborate with team members to support the mission of cleaner energy. This is a full-time, paid position for the Fall 2026 term.
What you'll do#
- Develop novel perovskite chemistries to enhance photovoltaic device efficiency, stability, and reproducibility.
- Engineer advanced hole transport layers to mitigate interfacial degradation and improve device performance.
- Perform electrical, optical, and materials characterization of thin films and devices to generate data-driven insights.
- Present key achievements, technical learnings, and project impact to the leadership team at the conclusion of the internship.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures and work instructions while resolving routine issues independently.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in at least the junior year of an undergraduate program.
- Pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures and basic troubleshooting skills.
- Hands-on experience with wet chemistry processing is preferred.
- Experience in materials characterization, device fabrication, vacuum equipment, or photovoltaic testing is a plus.
- Familiarity with analytical tools such as UV-Vis, AFM, SEM, SIMS, XRD, XRR, or ellipsometry is considered an asset.

- Term: August 31, 2026, to November 30, 2026.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $27.50 to $31.25 per hour.
- Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 37 pounds, wear required personal protective equipment, and comply with all safety standards.
