About the role#
Associated Electric Cooperative Inc. is hiring a Chemical Lab Intern for the summer of 2027 at the Thomas Hill Power Plant. You will work 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, under the direction of the Operations Superintendent and Results Lab Supervisor. This role provides an opportunity to learn power plant principles and operations while working within an industrial environment alongside various trades.
What you'll do#
- Learn about maintaining boiler water and steam chemistry.
- Perform water sampling and manage cooling water supply tasks.
- Conduct lab analysis and monitor chlorine levels.
- Complete documentation updates.
- Gain experience with plant water systems, including drinking water and firefighting supply.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a college program with at least 45 credit hours completed.
- Preferred majors include Chemistry, Biology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
- Superior organizational and communication skills.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
