About the role#
Associated Electric Cooperative Inc. is hiring a Safety Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, paid internship based in Springfield, Missouri. You will gain hands-on experience by supporting safety initiatives and working alongside experienced professionals in the utility industry. The role involves travel to various plant locations to assist with site-specific safety projects.
What you'll do#
- Participate in safety compliance audits at plant locations.
- Perform industrial hygiene monitoring and manage chemical inventory activities.
- Assist with safety permitting and chemical inventory management software.
- Help organize safety events and training activities.
- Manage personal protective equipment inventory and perform fit testing.
- Travel to plant locations as needed to support safety operations.
- Assist with additional safety projects and initiatives as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an Occupational Health & Safety, Safety Management, or related program.
- Strong computer skills and attention to detail.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Good organizational and analytical skills.
- A willingness to learn and work with employees across different locations.
