About the role#
Fidelity Clearing Canada (FCC) provides trade execution, clearing, custody, and back-office support to Canadian brokerage firms and portfolio managers. Students joining this division support either the Finance team or the Fund Treasury and Trading team. You will be assigned a mentor and participate in a training program covering communication, networking, and business etiquette.
What you'll do#
Depending on your placement, you will contribute to various financial and operational tasks:
- Analyze sales, operations, and financial data to identify trends.
- Review pricing decisions and provide recommendations.
- Support the analysis of third-party depository clearance and settlement costs.
- Develop and test new finance reporting tools.
- Update documentation for Finance policies and procedures.
- Compile data and run reports for trading and security lending teams.
- Create spreadsheets and presentations to organize data.
- Allocate and book orders to ensure accurate account positions.
- Monitor investment portfolio performance and track interest revenue.
- Collaborate with the Treasury liquidity manager to monitor daily liquidity needs.
- Maintain credit and concentration limits.
- Respond to client inquiries regarding debit and credit interest.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a registered university co-op program.
- Working towards a degree in finance, commerce, business, or economics.
- Strong analytical skills and a working knowledge of financial terms and ratios.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to manage projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Availability on a full-time basis for the duration of the winter 2027 term.
