About the role#
The Process Engineering Co-Op supports manufacturing operations at FECON. You will focus on process improvement, material flow, and visual management to help increase capacity and productivity. This role is a hands-on learning experience that alternates work semesters with your school schedule. You will work directly with production personnel on the manufacturing floor to discuss project specifications and product adjustments.
What you'll do#
- Assist with shop floor improvements and support the implementation of manufacturing projects.
- Take ownership of specific improvement projects related to 5S, process flow, and factory layout.
- Collaborate with the manufacturing team to design and implement fixtures and other shop floor aids.
- Conduct time studies and help manage time standards.
- Solve problems on the floor and in office processes using the PDCA cycle.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor degree in Industrial Management, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related program.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Desire for hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to multi-task across various assignments.
- Basic competency with manufacturing processes and the MS Office suite, including Outlook and Excel.
- Experience or interest in lean manufacturing, industrial engineering, or continuous improvement is preferred.
- Ability to traverse the production facility, lift up to 35 lbs, and work around moving vehicles.
