About the role#
This internship offers hands-on experience in manufacturing operations within our Materials Department. You will lead three key initiatives focused on packaging, process optimization, and container management at our facility in Ripon, Wisconsin. This is a full-time, paid position.
What you'll do#
- Design and implement improved packaging for material components, including creating project plans and coordinating prototype testing.
- Analyze end-to-end material handling processes using time studies, observations, and value-stream mapping.
- Develop improvement plans based on lean principles, pilot changes, and track key performance indicators.
- Manage the container fleet by performing physical inventory counts, labeling, and condition assessments.
- Create digital tracking methods to monitor container status and recommend flow improvements.
- Present findings and recommendations to leadership.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to track project milestones, maintain documentation, and support continuous improvement.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Process Engineering, Materials Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
- Completion of at least your sophomore year by the start of the internship.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- A basic understanding of lean manufacturing principles.
- Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
- Ability to walk the production floor, lift and handle materials, stand, bend, and perform extended periods of computer work.
