About the role#
We are hiring for a Test and Automated Test Co-op in Ottawa. This position runs for 8 to 16 months, starting January 4, 2027. You will work on-site 40 hours per week. During the interview process, we will discuss placement into one of three focus areas: Automated Test Developer, Integration & Test / Design Testing Support, or AI Developer Experience.
What you'll do#
- Develop and code automated 5G test cases and test tool capabilities.
- Build infrastructure to support 5G automated testing, including Layer 1 and test frameworks.
- Create tools and automation to support vDU integration and testing.
- Improve test development workflows using AI and Generative AI tools.
- Experiment with prompt engineering and fine-tuning AI models for test case generation.
- Perform software feature or integration testing on 5G lab equipment.
- Work in 5G simulations, including signal processing with AI/ML.
- Develop command-line and web-based tools to support software development.
- Investigate and help resolve issues uncovered during testing.
- Collaborate with colleagues using Agile methods.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Communications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent field.
- A minimum 2.7 GPA on a 4.0 scale or equivalent.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Effective written and verbal communication in English.
- General knowledge of LTE or 5G wireless protocols is an asset.
- Familiarity with AI tools such as OpenAI, Codeium, or TensorFlow is a plus.
- Experience with languages like Python, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, Perl, Java SpringBoot, HTML/CSS, or C/C++ is helpful.
- Knowledge of tools and platforms such as Linux, Gerrit, GitHub, Jenkins, Django, or Angular is beneficial.
- Familiarity with frameworks and concepts like HTTP/RESTful APIs, Hibernate, JPA, Kubernetes, or Docker is an asset.
Location & details#
- Location: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
- Term: Winter 2027.
- Compensation: Paid position. Pay ranges from $25.50 to $34.50 per hour for bachelor's students, $37.00 per hour for master's students, and $41.00 per hour for PhD students.
