About the role#
Alcoa is looking for interns to join the maintenance and reliability team at the Deschambault aluminum smelter for the Winter 2027 session. You will work alongside reliability engineers and tradespeople to improve equipment performance. This is a full-time, on-site position where you will be integrated into the team to gain hands-on industrial experience.
What you'll do#
- Assist the reliability engineer with equipment reliability mandates.
- Participate in breakdown analysis meetings to resolve recurring equipment issues.
- Attend weekly technical meetings with maintenance staff.
- Plan and track work identified during breakdown analysis sessions.
- Contribute to predictive maintenance programs, including oil analysis, vibration analysis, thermography, and ultrasound.
- Research equipment specifications with suppliers and manufacturers.
- Create visual work procedures in collaboration with tradespeople.
- Provide technical support and assist with equipment modifications to improve reliability.
- Help prepare and implement maintenance program revisions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a mechanical or electrical engineering program.
- Excellent proficiency in Excel.
- Strong logical reasoning and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- A rigorous approach to work and a proactive attitude.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
Location & details#
- Location: Deschambault, Quebec, Canada.
- Term: Winter 2027 (January 11 to April 23, 2027).
- Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, day shift.
- Compensation: Paid internship, with wages ranging from $28 to $32 per hour depending on your year of study.
